[Playing |Jason Wade - You Belong to Me [Shrek]]

Somehow it's been a few years since I last did the classic Name That Song meme...

The rules are simple:
Step 1: Put your music player on random.
Step 2: Post the first few lines from the first bunch of songs with lyrics that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Let everyone guess what song and artist/composer/work the lines come from.
Step 4: Post the answers in a few days
Step 5: And most importantly, no cheating by using Google :P

Good luck!

#1
Yo, yo
Forfeit the game, before somebody takes you out of the frame
Put your name to shame, cover up your face
You can't run the race, the pace is too fast, you just won't last

#2
Lover I'm off the streets
Gonna go where the bright lights
And the big city meet
With a red guitar, on fire
Desire

#3
Let me sail, let me sail
Let the Orinoco Flow
Let me reach, let me beach
On the shores of Tripoli

#4
Lacrimosa dies illa
Qua resurget ex favilla
Judicandus homo reus

#5
Love was kind for a time
But now just aches and it makes me blind
This mirror holds my eyes too bright
But I can't see the others other in my life

#6
Like mighty ships that sail the Atlantic foam
The Skellig Isles parade the Kerry Coast
It's a strange place with the needle's eye
Where shipwrecks lie

#7
You spurn my natural emotions
You make me feel like dirt
And I'm hurt
And if I start a commotion
I run the risk of losing you
And that's worse

#8
From the day we arrive on the planet
And blinking, step into the sun
There's more to see than can ever be seen
More to do than can ever be done

#9
Touch me in the mornin
And last thing at night
Keep my body warm baby, you know it feels right
Take it a little higher
I'm takin it too
Tell me what your feelin
I'll feel it with you

#10
So the world goes round and round
With all you ever knew
They say the sky high above
Is Caribbean blue

#11
Picture perfect a life that you saw in a magazine
Or maybe a traveling book
Wanted to get on that plane and fly away
cause you are a rock star deep down inside

#12
I keep on fear, keep on loathing
Nothing brings it on I keep on falling
Decide what it is I can not find

#13
This is the last time
That I will say these words
I remember the first time
The first of many lies

#14
Touch my mouth
And hold my tongue
I'll never be your chosen one
I'll be home, safely tucked away
You can't tempt me if I don't see the day

#15
I'm on my way from misery to happiness today
I'm on my way from misery to happiness today
I'm on my way to what I want from this world
And years from now you'll make it to the next world
And everything that you receive up yonder
Is what you gave to me the day I wandered

#16
And knowing you has been a joke
The coffee bars and restaurants
Horse-drawn carts and beating hearts
Romantics: they make me want to choke

#17
Are we the last living souls
Are we the last living souls
Are we the last living souls
Are we the last living souls

#18
I've got you under my skin
I've got you deep in the heart of me
So deep in my heart that you're almost a part of me
And I've got you under my skin

#19
I was born amidst the purple waterfalls
I was weak, yet not unblessed
Dead to the world
Alive for the journey

#20
A kite above a graveyard grey
At the end of the line far far away
A child holding on to the magic of birth and awe

#21
It came upon the midnight clear
That glorious song of old
From angels bending near the earth
To touch their harps of gold

#22
Yeah, I've been to Jupiter
And I've fallen through the air
I used to live out on the moon
But now I'm back here down on Earth

#23
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people living for today

#24
I guess that's how it goes
Broken dreams, ripped out seams
So hard to turn away
And face the day

#25
Oh no I see
A spider web it's tangled up with me
And I lost my head
And thought of all the stupid things I said

#26
Anois i dtús an fhómhair
Is mé smaointiú siar
Ar an laethe aerach'i bhfad ó shoin
'S mé a' súgradh le mo mhian
Bhí áilneacht aoibhinn ar a h-aghaidh
Is sólás in a croí
Ba sin fadó a bhuachaill
Ba sin fadó, fadó

#27
Way way back many centuries ago
Not long after the Bible began
Jacob lived in the land of Canaan
A fine example of a family man

#28
My beloved monster and me
We go everywhere together
Wearing a raincoat that has four sleeves
Gets us through all kinds of weather

#29
When all alone in my chair
I just go about wishing
Wanna be strong, really wanna be trusted
When all alone in my bed
I just go about yearning
Wanna be cool, I also wanna be like him

#30
Little Sally Racket
Haul her away!
She pawned my best jacket
Haul her away!
And she lost the ticket
Haul her away!

I may have gotten slightly carried away in putting this together...

Some of these are rather obscure, to be fair (one is from a CD that I think was only ever sold in Horsham!), but that's balanced by others which give away the title in the first few words. The challenge for those ones is guessing the artist!
