Yesterday's dubious achievement was managing to score -58 points from tickets in Ticket To Ride. Yes, that is a negative score. It's the result of what happens when Matt manages to claim the exact routes I need to complete my tickets, forcing me into more and more convoluted detours until I physically cannot achieve any due to running out of trains. All of this was revenge for my very first turn, where I placed a 2-train route that turned out to be right in the middle of his tickets.
I did manage to at least end on +16 points, thanks to some 5-train and 6-train routes. Go me!
Getting to and from pasta night was a bit tricky - the rain over the previous days had caused the river at Pulborough to rise and spread into the floodplains... and into that little bit where the road dips between the pair of mini-roundabouts and the bridge, waiting to catch the unwary (of which I was not, having spotted the reflections of the village lights in the risen river). It'd only managed to flood half-way across the road, and wasn't as epic as on one lift The Gnu gave me a few years ago where the river was creeping across the A29. The return journey was even more fun - lots of short, squally and very heavy showers between Pulborough and Havant, with the worst around and after Chichester. Not the sort of conditions to do 70mph in (not that that stops some muppets)!
