But...I...I made a promise to Saria... If Link came back, I would be sure to tell him that Saria had been waiting for him... Because Saria...really... liked...
Hey, you. If you see him somewhere, please let him know... And also...
I'm sorry for being mean to him.
Tell him that, too.
The future Kokiri Woods is not the happy place it once was, now that the village is infested with Mad Scrubs and Deku Babas. It's not like they actually pose any significant threat, but it's more the presence of them where previously this area was one of the relatively few completely safe havens (those who think Hyrule Field is generally safe haven't been out there at night fending off Stallkids).
Making my way through the Sacred Forest Meadow was an interesting exercise in fail - I couldn't use the scarecrow shortcut because I'd forgotten the song I taught it (and unlike in Majora's Mask 3D it doesn't appear on the screen when using the Ocarina), so I had to do this the old-fashioned way. Which meant jumping out into the passageway and trying to hit the Moblin with the hookshot before it rammed me with its spear (those blighters are fast). The Club Moblin right at the end was also a challenge because I hadn't picked up any Bombchus and so had to try to get into melee range rather than just take it out from a safe distance. I'm not sure I've had to defeat it that way before.
The enigmatic Sheik makes a reappearance - I forgot to mention his first appearance in the Temple of Time, where as you're walking out he steps out from the shadows behind you, and explains what's happened to Hyrule. He is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma, and only becomes more of a puzzle as the game progresses. Anyway, here he hints that he knows more about what's going on than he ought to, before teaching you the Minuet of Forest.
And with that, it's a quick leap with the hookshot into the Forest Temple!
The flow of time is always cruel... Its speed seems different for each person, but no one can change it...
