Today's useful tool is a user-agent switcher for IE. Why is such a thing required? Because there exist websites that do user-agent sniffing and block Internet Explorer.

For some reason, this is acceptable. And yet blocking Firefox results in massive flamage.

It'll probably happen when my XP install explodes in some spectacular fashion, or when I buy a new piece of software/hardware that outright refuses to run under XP. Incidentally, the latter is what caused me to upgrade to XP in the first place - the TV card didn't properly support Win2k.

Maybe this time it would be better to beat "it doesn't work" to the punch and upgrade on your own terms...

Given it always takes me about a week to do a full reinstall and a good day to get the core done, I would never dream of doing anything other than carefully planned upgrades.
