[Playing |You Were Right ~ Badly Drawn Boy/Now 53 - Disc 2]

Fine, so talismancer quite rightly mocked the lack of usefulness of my previous post. To be honest I doubt this post is any less useless than the previous one, but it does contain much more uselessness.

You know the drill:
Step 1: Put your media player on random.
Step 2: Post the first few lines from the first 30 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Let everyone guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 4: Bold the songs when someone guesses correctly. Post the answers in a few days.
Using a search engine will, as usual, result in much snarkage.

Dearest constellation, heaven surrounding you
Stay there, soft and blue
(title), I'll wait for you tonight

When I'm waiting
Hey I'm waiting
When I'm waiting
Yes I'm waiting

(title) dies illa
Qua resurget ex favilla
Judicandus homo reus

Every time I close my eyes I can clearly see
The image of your smile shine through my darkest dreams.
I never thought that I'd find myself this close, this close
To you, my dear, tell me what it means.

Can you believe it?
Oooh - oooh
Can you believe it?

They ask me how
I knew my true love was true?
Oh I of course replied
Something here inside cannot be denied

Tempted by the fruit of another
Tempted but the truth is discovered

(title), gratia plena
Dominus tecum, virgo serena

I want to be the first man you remember
I want to be the last man you forget
I want to be the one you'll always turn to
I want to be the one you won't regret

You cut me down a tree and brought it back to me
And that's what made me see where I was going wrong
You put me on a shelf and kept me for yourself
I can only blame myself, you can only blame me

Here is my story
A little sad of soul, a little weary
Maybe I am that?

(title) maledictis
Flammis acribus addictis
Voca me cum benedictis

As I was walking by yonder church wall,
I saw four-and-twenty young men a-playing at the ball.
I asked for my own true love but they wouldn't let him come,
For they said the boy was young but a-growing.

I closed my eyes, drew back the curtain
To see for certain, what I thought I knew.
Far, far away, someone was weeping,
But the world was sleeping.

Ooh, baby, don't you know I suffer?
Ooh, baby, can you hear me mourn?
You caught me under false pretences
How long before you let me go?

Don't wanna be second best,
Don't wanna stand in line,
Don't wanna fall behind.
Don't wanna get caught out,
Don't want to do without.

Come waste your millions here, secretly she says
Another corporate show, a guilty conscience grows

I am in love with you
I am in love with you baby
I am in love with you yeah
Live for the moment

There is something that I see
In the way you look at me
There's a smile, there's a truth in your eyes

Here's to the future
Forget about your past
Here's to the man who's life is just a gas
Heres to your sorrow
Oh I dread to think
Here's to the lost to have found anything

Is there for honest poverty
That hings his heed and a' that
The coward slave we pass him by
We dare be poor for a' that

Give me strength to face the truth, the doubt within my soul
No longer I can justify the bloodshed in his name
Is it a sin to seek the truth, the truth beneath the rose?
Pray with me so I will find the gate to Heaven's door

And you,
Were right to bide your time and not buy into my misery
Well the good things are never free
Do the colours of the rainbow look the same to everyone?

It's only now when words are said
that break my heart in two,
I wonder at how you endure
all I've said, all I say to you.

(title) - Wind, Fire, Water, Earth
(title) - Fear, Anger, Sorrow, Joy

Now i will tell you what i've done for you
Fifty thousand tears i've cried
Screaming deceiving and bleeding for you
And you still won't hear me

I looked over Jordan, and what did I see
Coming for to carry me home?
A band of angels coming after me,
Coming for to carry me home.

Come, come, come into my world
Won't you lift me up, up, high upon your love

You don't need to cry
You don't need to shout
Paint on the front door
Or write in the clouds

I felt a shadow passing over me
It could stay for ever more
Like a wave I'm breaking far at sea
There's no-one to hear the roar

Dang, I know none of these...

However, in my defence, my list would be like this: #1: (Melody) #2: (Some drumbeats with melody) etc. :-)

What's not included in those 30 songs are about 90 without lyrics that I skipped while building the list. My music collection confuses people :)

I can only ever do folk songs and classical music in these sort of things.

3. This is a Dies Irae, so is almost certainly taken from someone's setting of the requiem mass, though it's impossible to tell whose.

8. Ave Maria. Again, no way of knowing whose.

12. Confutatis, again from a setting of the words for the requiem mass. I'm tending towards Mozart in this case, since in all the other versions I can think of, the confutatis bit isn't given a separate movement of its own.

13. Somebody's version of the traditional song The trees they do grow high (sometimes called Long a-growing, and various other things)

14. Any dream will do, from Joseph. (A friend and I were obsessed with them when we were 8, and pretty much knew it off by heart.)

21. A man's a man for a' that - words by Robert Burns, sung by... well, any number of people.

27. Swing low, sweet chariot

Having just seen your post mentioning this, I thought I'd come take a look. I must have completely missed it when you originally posted.

14 - It's from Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat...Any Dream Will Do?

22 - The Truth Beneath The Rose - Within Temptation

26 - Bring Me To Life - Evanescence

I don't think I know any of the others.

#27 is Swing low, sweet chariot. No idea on artist, I know it from being taught to sing it in the choir many years ago.

Otherwise, I got nothing

I know 7...
I know 9...
14 is from Joseph's Technicolour Dream Coat and is sung by D. Day (Daniel?), possibly called 'I Dreamed a Dream'?
I know 19...
I know 26...
27 is 'Swing Low Sweet Chariot' by... Someone.
I know 28...

This was all off the top of my head. I'm rubbish with song titles! Are you sure I can't use Google even just a little bit?!
