So, there's all this grand fuss about how if the EU Telecoms package gets passed as-is, the Internet as we know it will be destroyed overnight and we'll have to pay mega wonga to get at anything not supplied by the ISP. And that a set of amendments are the only possible chance ever to prevent this happening.

Could someone please explain to me, with references, how this will break the Internet? I've read the amendments, and I really don't see how this is such an Internet-destroying situation. I'm sure I must be missing something obvious, but it doesn't help that everything seems to state OMG WTF THE SKY IS FALLING!!!!111one without actually saying why.
